Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our countdown timer, day counter, and New Year countdown.

How do I create a shareable countdown link? +

On the Countdown Timer page, enter your event name, select a date and time, and click Start Countdown. Then click the Copy Shareable Link button. The link encodes your event name and target date into the URL. Anyone who opens it will see the same countdown calculated in their local browser time zone — no account, login, or server storage needed.

Does the countdown account for time zones? +

By default, the countdown uses the viewer's local browser time zone. This means if you set a countdown for "June 15, 2027 at 12:00 PM" and share the link, each person who opens it will see the remaining time calculated from their local clock, not yours. This works great for most use cases. If you need an exact UTC-time countdown, you can include the UTC time when setting up the timer.

What is the difference between the countdown timer and the day counter? +

The Countdown Timer counts down to a future date (e.g. "30 days until my wedding"). The Day Counter counts up from a past date (e.g. "145 days since I started running"). Both use the same date math engine — only the direction differs.

Does the New Year countdown update automatically each year? +

Yes. The New Year Countdown dynamically calculates the next upcoming January 1 based on your current date. It is never hardcoded to a specific year — after this New Year passes, the countdown automatically resets to the following year.

Is my event data stored on a server? +

No. This site has no backend, no database, and no user accounts. All countdown state is stored in the URL query string (for shareable links) or in your browser's memory. Nothing is ever sent to a server. The site is fully static and works offline after the first page load.

Can I embed a countdown on my own website? +

We don't offer an embed widget at this time, but you can always link to a shareable countdown URL from your website, social media, or email. The link opens the countdown on this page and anyone can see the live timer without installing anything.
